The Mishima Suite
The
extraordinary life and literary output of Mishima (Kimitake Hiraoka) provided
the impetus and focus to trace many of the various facets of desire, from the
carnal, libidinal and self destructive, to the ethereal, self-effacing and
sublime. Rather then literal
illustrations of his life or novels, these works try to capture some measure of
the psychological depth, diversity of expression, and convulsive beauty that
attend Mishima’s logic of absence and his awareness of the generative power of
desire.
All paintings are 23” X 23”, oil
& acrylic on panel.
